So in yet another financially irresponsible move, Casey and I bought me a new computer the other day.

Meet Dinah, my lovely and oh so speedy macbook:

Behind her is my rather aged powerbook. I will miss her- she has been good to me over the past few years.

Oh and a PSA! If you are planning to go see the Harlot at Webs, make sure you go to their website and register… they said if the ballroom fills up (375) then they will not be accepting walk-ins!

Now Departing

Food processor!!! Sweet!

Yes, I apparently get excited about kitchen appliances. How the mighty fall. 😉

I had pretty much given up on those relatives, to be honest (since our wedding was in June). What a nice surprise!

oooohhh Just think of the guacamole I will make!

Florida Trip

Friday, December 9th, 2005

This past weekend, my family met up in Florida for a visit with my Grampy and other family. It was really wonderful weather down there- 60s and 70s during the day and sunny. It was sure a shock to come home to the 20s and 30s- brr!

Our apartment is not heated very well at the moment- apparently the management company has not realized it is winter. It is kinda hard to type- I think I need to make myself some wrist warmers.

Anyway, the trip to Florida was nice… we were all staying with my grandfather who is on a very strict, self-imposed schedule so we all amused ourselves by watching him do the same thing a the same time every day. I hope I don’t get that way when I am old but I think it is comforting for him to have that schedule, especially since my grandmother is gone.

Whenever we get together with the family, Casey gets to make a bunch of drinks and sometimes he gets a bit carried away. (silly Casey)

Don’t know what Dad and I are trying to make with those two ingredients. hmmm…

We also squeezed in a little time to go to MGM and Epcot- my cousin got us a park pass for the day. Free- sweet!

Casey was the navigator- I don’t know why he is wearing my sunglasses….

My poor mom had a hard day- she had bad nasal allergies and a potential sinus infection so she got a nosebleed in the middle of a ride. She also spilled coffee on herself earlier in the day. I had to attack her with my favorite new thing, the Tide stain remover pen thing. We told her we weren’t embarrassed to be with her- not sure if she believed us. 😉

We had a very authentic British meal at a pub at Epcot. (haha) I also brought myself a sheep mug from the UK section. I couldn’t help it! Sheep! mug! I have been looking for one that is just the right size for my tea now that it is winter.

Casey and I went on the roller coaster and mom took our picture in front of the big guitar… she had the camera all crooked and we were laughing- she wanted to make sure that you could tell it was a guitar in the picture. Always thinkin’, those moms.

Finally, a picture of Casey, me and Grampy. That hat just cracks me up. Why is it that old men in my family all wear hats that are way too small? They just sorta perch there on the top of their heads. Maybe they have had the hat for a long time and their heads get bigger as they get older? (oh, and it was windy- that is why my hair looks like that… Liza Minelli, anyone?)

Img 2934-1

Unfortunately, it is not windy in this picture- that is what I look like after sleeping (haha I mean NOT sleeping) on an air mattress 4 nights in a row. Beeeeautiful. ack!

Oh, how I love my own bed.

The sharpest tools in the shed

Casey and I had quite a weekend. We drove from our apartment to Casey’s mom’s house in seacoast New Hampshire. Then down to my parent’s house in New Jersey and back up here to Cambridge in one day.

Um yeah, we are idiots.

Why did we do that? Well, we bought that dresser on ebay and saved a few hundred dollars and then decided it wouldn’t be a big deal to have my dad pick it up and then we could go get it in our Corolla. Of course, that huge box didn’t fit in our car so we had to borrow Casey’s mom’s minivan. I know, we are not the smartest…

….but this is in our apartment now! Yippi!

(For the tons of people who asked where it is originally from, go here.)

In other news, I am crying my eyes out watching the last few episodes of Six Feet Under. Man, that show is screwed up.

Happy Birthday, Carrie!

Happy Day, Carrie and Cathy! 🙂

Still excited!

Random Friday Thoughts

Friday, April 15th, 2005

My mom is coming up tomorrow and we are going to our fittings for the wedding. It is supposed to be lovely weather this weekend- in the sixties tomorrow and (gasp!) the seventies on Sunday. So we should be able to have a really nice day.

I also got a call from Rugg Road Paper Company saying that our invitations were in! yay! We can go get them tomorrow when we are in Boston. Darn, guess that means I really should have those addresses ready. eek!

That will get your attention!

The new Knitty is up- yippi!

The cover photo is very… interesting.

Good blog day!

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

I have been feeling a bit homely lately. This feeling creeps up on me time to time and is usually cured by a good haircut. My hair is very fine (the nice word for thin) and if it is too long it just hangs there. Blah.

The problem is that my hair stylist ran away to California and I haven’t found one that I like as much.

(As a side note, why the heck does everyone keep leaving me and going to California? It is like this big black hole sucking everyone out of my life. Loody and Bridget were the first to go. Then my hair dresser, then the DJ for our wedding. gah! If one more person goes out there, they are bringing me with them!)

Anyway, back to my hair dilemma. It is incredibly difficult to find a new hairdresser- who to ask?

Well, my problem was solved with this post by bluepoppy! She got a fabulous new haircut yesterday at a place in Cambridge, on a tip from Amalah‘s blog (or Amy- not sure what she goes by… first time I read her was today…) So I called Salon Luna and set up an appointment for next week. yay! Ugly girl in the mirror, go away!!

But wait! The blog love just keeps on going!

I have been looking for a bright green laceweight yarn to make a shawl for my wedding. I just thought it would be fun to wear something that I made myself that day. (whether I have enough time to do that is something else entirely)

I read Pinku’s post today about this great yarn that she bought, which she discovered from a Knitter’s Review article.

Look where it led me! ooooh…..

You should check it out if you are looking for an inexpensive yarn to make a new project… it is supposed to be great too (see the article above). 🙂
