Knitting Angst, Part 1
I was going through a stack of knitting patterns yesterday and came across this:

Rebecca’s ‘Wrap with Sleeves’- the pattern can be found on their site for free!
I got really excited about it all of a sudden and decided that I really needed to make it. So today I ran out and used the 10% off coupon that I had been saving to get the yarn. So excited! Woolcott even had the color that I wanted, a lovely dark brown. Everything was just falling into place!
GGH’ Soft Kid in color 67, dark brown:
So I run home and actually read the pattern and that is where the trouble begins. This pattern is INCOMPREHENSIBLE.
Not to be deterred, I google it and find that many, many people have had trouble with the “fisherman’s rib” that the pattern does a totally crap job of explaining.
I find this tutorial and although it certainly looks like it would be helpful, I still don’t understand can’t do it. Why does it have to be so difficult?! It is just stupid ribbing!
Somewhere in my ramblings, I read that what the Germans refer to as fisherman’s rib is the same as brioche stitch. So I gave that a shot… Only problem is that I am not really sure if it will have the same effect. It sorta looks the same, I guess.
I just want to knit the darn thing! Ack!!!

OH MY GOD! I just looked at that pattern and it is horrible! I was like “where’s the 2nd page?” It’s talking about all these YOs that don’t really seem to exist (unless I’m just not seeing it)! ACK! That is very very strange. Good luck! I agree that it will look GREAT on you! And I LOVE. THAT. COLOR. Mmmmmm… brown…

Oh my gosh, I printed that pattern off the website ages ago, I like the warm snuggly look of the wrap. I have the yarn to knit it, but just have not started. I can’t believe all the trouble you are going through to make this puppy happen !! Will you post your ‘revised’ pattern once you have it all figured out ? All of us newbies would like to have a go at it !!!

Oh no! That sounds really complicated! Hopefully you’ll be able to figure it out!
:)

And if you can’t figure it out, knit it anyway! I bet your version will be smashing, and you’ll love it even more for having to impose your own ingenuity onto it.

I SOOO want to make this pattern (someday). Currently, my plate is overflowing. I’ve thought about using plain old stockinette. I don’t think I’d survive miles and miles of k1p1

And Happy Thanksgiving!

Ooh…I love that. And I second whoever mentioned writing up a revised version, should you be able to make it

I just looked at the german version of the pattern and found out, that what they call “fishermans rib” in your’s is called “Patent” in my one - which should be your brioche stitch as far as I know… so you’re perfectly right
Good Luck
