Almost May- sheesh!
(my blog titles are getting worse and worse- haha)
I can’t believe it is the 26th of April already… seriously, where the heck did April go? That is always the case when you are on a deadline, I guess.
Some nice things have happened in April- it is finally spring around here. Earlier in the week, it was like heaven.
Bob spent the nice weather days snorting out the window.
It is freaking hilarious. He cocks his head when he sees something particularly exciting and jumps when he sees birds. What a nut.
The weather was also so cooperative when my best friend Julie and her husband came for a visit earlier in the week. Unfortunately, it was over much too quick but here we are having lunch:
Every place we went to eat, there was a messup with the server or the meals so we got wine, desserts and a pizza for free. It was totally fine- we four could talk forever anyway.
(We just finished those leftovers guys!)
No knitting to share since I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO KNIT. I know, I am devastated but also, have been too busy to knit. Now, I am thinking though that I am not really allergic to wool- it is just that my hands are so dry (eczema, etc) that the yarn and fiber just takes any moisture out of my hands.
This is what my hand looks like now- still some ouchie red spots but not as bad as it was. I knit a couple rows the other day.
As it happens in the spring, the weather turned to rain yesterday and poor Casey got caught in it on the Vespa without a jacket. Silly boy. I keep telling him to keep a jacket in the scooter but what do I know? haha
Sorry, Case, I had to post that picture- it is too funny. Sad monkey.
What else? Well, our time has pretty much been sucked up by this project that I have been hinting at for a while… To give you a picture, take a look at this post. (It is way better now than that original concept too!)
You back?
Well, if you would like to help contribute/ time to assist us testing the site, please leave a comment. SO EXCITED!!! weee!

Allergic to wool???? Eek. I would die. Seriously. My mom keeps trying to convince me she’s allergic to wool but I’m having a hard time believing it. I would be so cold all winter without wool. How do you stay warm??? I guess there’s down…
That picture of Bob reminded me of this 1800s stone house I used to live in. The window sills were about 2 feet deep and my dog Jacques loved them because he had a great place to sit and take in the world. There was a tree in front of one of the front windows with a fork in the branches just about at dog-eye level. One day, we came home to discover a squirrel laying there, straddling the branches and flicking his tail at Jacques, as the dog of course went ballistic. They became arch-nemeses. The squirrel hung out all year doing it. The poor dog had such anxiety about the One That Got Away!

I love Bob, he is so cute. Sampson does the window patrol thing too…he stands on our bed and looks out at the squirrels in the morning and snorts and jumps. Usually when he jumps he’s jumping on me. All 50 pounds of him.

Allergies suck ass!
April 26th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
I have to say that I’m loving the project. I was so excited to get a chance to play with it. So sorry to hear about the wool allergy. I have issues with breathing allergies with certain fibers - I can’t imagine if it hurts your hands like that.

I’ll help you click around your new site, sounds like fun.

aw….so sorry about the allergy issue…it can’t be true….you must seek doctors advice or maybe invest in a good cream for dry skin.
Bob is lovely, he’s sure enjoying the view outside the window!! Thats 2 knitters I know who own a Boston Terrier lol
April 27th, 2007 at 6:23 am
Bob is too adorable… I can totally picture him snorting at the stuff he sees outside! And poor Casey! He looks so forlorn!

Oh - well I hope it isn’t allergies after all. My hands get so dry from knitting - super dry depending on the fiber I’m using. Okay, off to put some moisturizer on.

I’m glad to hear your hands are doing better! Keep up the good work with your new project!
April 27th, 2007 at 7:33 am
I’d love to click around the new site… it looks like a great idea! And… yay to your other half for the “look” of the site.
I love seeing pictures of Bob… I love me a Boston!
:)

Poor Casey! Maybe now he will listen to you.

Your super secret site is awesome! I’ve had great fun playing around with it.
And I hope you find some good hand cream!! Have you tried the Neutrogena hand cream? It’s super rich (but a little greasy). I also love the Kiehl’s handcream (which my roommate gave me for xmas!). It smells minty

I’m delurking myself to post this, though I’ve only been lurking since the weekend. Anyway, I promised myself that I would comment after your next post, so here I am! Good luck with knitting and school, I find that a lot of the time the only way I can knit during the week is in class. I can’t wait to see what your secret project is!
April 27th, 2007 at 10:23 am
Your no-longer secret project will be really great if everyone plays along!
April 27th, 2007 at 10:33 am
I’ll help ya. Just let me know what you need
April 27th, 2007 at 11:28 am
I bet the whole time Casey was repeating the following:
“dammit she IS ALWAYS RIGHT” over and over and over and over.
Is Bob coming to Maryland?
April 27th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Love it. Love it. So happy to be a small part of it

You know what has really helped my hands? (I have ezcema and REALLy dry skin and the yarn eats my hands alive)…Burt’s Bees Hand Salve…the crap is super greasy but I use it right before bed and my hands are really healed in the morning. I also use Heal My Hands (which I got from Scout) before I knit and it’s not super greasy so it won’t affect your yarn at all…but it REALLY has helped a ton.
My hubster says he wants a Vespa now. I should show him that picture. Bwahahahahhaa….

I am LOVING the “project”. I just wish that my bosses would stop throwing stuff at me to do so that I can work on updating it. Great job guys!
Oh - and I went to get allergy tested and kept a close eye on my “silk” bump on my skin. I was praying that I was not allergic… that would be so tragic!
April 27th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
oy - I hate exczema - you have my sympathies. I would give my right arm (figuratively speaking, of course) to get Bob and Sam together to play - they would have such fun.

Crabtree and Evelyn’s Gardener’s Hand Therapy (original scent) and Blue Sky Alpaca’s little tin of hand cream (can’t remember the name) work pretty well for me. I’ve also found that there are some massage creams (Bath and Body Works, Suss Designs) that work as hand lotions, too.

That picture of Casey is adorable– you HAD to post it. Also, do you know about hte NH sheep and wool festival May 12-13? don’t know if it interests you cause you are healing your hands– but wanted to mention it– it’s in Contocook. Now I’m off to go check out your secret project.

The new site looks great!! I would love to help out if you need it!
April 28th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
Sarah was asking me the other day if I had gotten on your site yet :/ She was full of good thigns to say about it
May 1st, 2007 at 1:21 pm
wow… that photo of Bob pretty much sums up how I feel! spring fever, snorting out the window and all!
glad you’re not allergic to wool. that would be devastating. when i’m using harsh materials (oil paints, solvents etc) i use this ArtGuard barrier cream – i think it’s made by windsor and newton – which helps protect my skin. maybe give it a try!
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:55 pm
damn, you and Casey came up with what I have been working on in fits and starts in my spare time. Same idea and everything.
congrats! can’t wait until it opens so I can play around with ravelry!

I just found out about your new site from nimrodel. I am very excited about it, and would love to help you out! I’ve been trying to do a similar thing between flickr and blogging, but it is very inefficient. Plus I’ve lost my motivation to blog, since I would rather just post my WIPs and FOs (and daresayit UFOs) without the extra blogging verbiage. I used to keep online photos of stash and swatches in flickr, and I have a stash spreadsheet at home. I would love to be a beta tester for your site if you have room.

I would LOVE to help in any way I can! Just tell me where you need me
