Snorty gets a sweater
August 22nd, 2006
I have knit my dog a sweater.
Please know that I am as appalled as you by this turn of events… but the poor guy is shivering in air conditioning, for goodness sakes.
Okay, he does look pretty darn cute in it.
greenie and kong munching action shots:

Being this cute is exhausting…
I modified the Penny pattern from Knitty- did it in the round instead and made the armholes much longer. I used one skein of Manos with size 5 needles.

OK, so you have the cutest dog ever! And the sweater is adorable. Good job with that

Um…the cuteness is killing me!!! I love the red - great colour choice!!
August 22nd, 2006 at 11:07 pm
It doesn’t get cuter than that. Cute sweater.

I am dying from the cuteness. I literally cannot stand it. I yearn to knit sweaters for my dog - but really, it would be torture for a golden retriever (she is seemingly immune to cold and rather enjoys blizzards).
BTW, how is the puppy thing coming along? Ours was a bit of a terror (think Marley and Me but with less major destructive tendencies). Speaking of that - I just finished reading “Marley and Me”, and loved it, a very light read but very entertaining brain candy.

cute doesn’t even describe it. we need a new, stronger word for cute. i just want to snuggle that dog.

OMgoodness. I can’t believe he didn’t try and rip it off! So totally adorable.

well now, see–that worked out great! Before the winter, I have a feeling Bob is going to have a little knit wardrobe.
He really is the cutest ever…
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:07 am
Aww, how adorable! What a good mommy you are
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:40 am
Too cute for words
August 23rd, 2006 at 12:16 pm
That is adorable! Both the sweater and the puppy!
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:57 pm
Both dog and sweater are adorable. I may have to try that pattern for my 2 Bostons! My Libby rides in a pouch and wears Doggles on our Harley. I will have to send you pixs. Snorty is a good discription of those little guys!

OMG the things we do for our dogs.
Bob does look remarkable sporting that sweater, I do believe that is his color!
As long as you never use fun fur things will just ducky.
XOXOXOXOXOX

Am dying from the cuteness! When are you going to bring that adorable boy up here for a playdate??!
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:17 pm
Heh, he’s looking very tubular in one of them.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:10 pm
OMG. I love your dog. That sweater is adorable, Jess! John won’t let me put Sadie in clothes. Maybe cause she’s 80 pounds and sheds all the time. But dogs in clothes ARE CUTE. And we can’t have your puppy shivering.

Yay! You found greenies! Rocco loves them and yes, I knit him sweaters too because not only does he not like AC but he also hates Montana snowstorms. Brrr. Bob will be loving that this winter. And its nice that knitters can customize the shape and size of the sweater to fit the dog body. Not every mom can do that.
Your dog is so cute that we’re seriously thinking of getting a Boston Terrier to be a buddy/companion for our iggy. (we were already thinking of two iggys but now I think two different dogs might be better). I’ve been reading up on the breed.

By the way - about the Greenies - I forgot to mention this earlier. But if you want to be a REALLY GOOD mommy, you can put the Greenies into a pouch of moist treats to “cure”. (We put a bunch of them in with another treat called “Jerky Treats”) It softens them up a bit as well as gives them a little beefy flavor. It’s all about the spoiling of the pampered pets because they are so cute. Sounds strange but our Rocco swears by them.

Oh my gosh - what a smart looking sweater Snorty McSnorterson is wearing!
A friend of mine started making clothes for her chilly chihuahua when she lived in Nova Scotia. Now the dog has more clothes than I do! She ended up starting an online clothing store with the clothes. I don’t know if she’s still making clothes to sell, but the link to her site is the little chihuahua button on my sidebar.
Next thing you know, you’ll be designing sweaters for fine puppies everywhere!

Adorable! Just be careful with those Greenies, they can cause serious problems:

There’s a lot more info. out there on Greenies. I first found out about the dangers of them when talking to my vet (who doesn’t recommend them).
Just want your little guy to be safe

red is bob’s color…i miss him.
August 25th, 2006 at 3:34 am
Oh my gosh, what a sweetheart! You must have the cutest dog ever - and this sweater suits him so perfectly fine! Great!
August 25th, 2006 at 10:20 am
Seriously, do you think they know how cute they are? I would swear the little guy is working it for the camera!
And by the way . . . if my dog were shivering I’d knit for him too! (I have a lab. Labs don’t shiver in AC, they lay right in front of the unit and suck up the cool air!)
August 25th, 2006 at 2:41 pm
That is so beyond cute! Puppies get very cold so fast, even with the fur. My mom’s dog will go bury himself in his blankets in his crate when he’s cold. It’s so cute.

The sweater looks great on your adorable dog! The design was actually intended for indoor use. Great yarn choice and color!
August 27th, 2006 at 12:36 pm
I suppose it’s because I don'’t have a pet, but I can’t believe you used Manos for a dog. Hee hee. So cute though. So so cute.
August 29th, 2006 at 3:28 pm
Too cute! Bob has to be the most adorable dog in a sweater I have ever seen. Seriously!!
August 30th, 2006 at 12:08 pm
Ack! You have the cutest dog ever! And he’s a lucky guy to have a rad Manos sweater, too. (A guilty admission: There have been times - albeit maybe only one or two - when I’ve wished our medium-sized mutt were smaller and less furry so she’d need a sweater.)
September 4th, 2006 at 1:53 pm
ok, he looks *So* adorale in that sweater! Seriously, the CUTEST! yay puppy!!
September 6th, 2006 at 5:55 pm
Oh the doggie is so cute in his new knitted jumper. I love it on him, and at least he wont get a chill in his bones.
September 7th, 2006 at 2:10 pm
i like how in the first picture, he’s kinda giving that look of “ugh. i can’t believe mom knit me a sweater.”
i knit sweaters for Ruby and she loves them. sometimes she just snuggles with them when she isn’t wearing them. and she’s even learned in the winter to get her sweater and bring it to me when she has to go out.
love dog sweaters! love em!

Hi Jessica!
Your pup looks super sweet in your handknit sweater!
Long time no comment!
I was also wondering if you could e-mail me? heyrubbersol atyahoo.com!
Thanks!

The. Cutest. Dog. And dog sweaters are always acceptable; I’ve never let the pointing, laughing people bother me.
September 25th, 2006 at 12:26 pm
Aww, cute.
September 29th, 2006 at 2:18 pm
I love your dog, it’s the cutiest puppy I have ever seen. I saved a picture of it.
