Almost a home of our own…
So, our offer was accepted!
yay!
It has been a long time since my last post but, as you homeowners know, this buying process is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. I have been running paperwork around town, Casey’s mom has been negotiating for us, and Casey set up the home inspection that happened today.
Things went pretty much as we expected with the inspection- but we definitely would like to find out more information about some things and Paula has to go back to the negotiating table. Our home inspector was fabulous (Frank at Jackson Home Inspections in Andover)- he was very thorough and even gave us an organized binder detailing all that he discovered. Very helpful.
So, yes… we are moving along and we are getting excited!
I put up a photo album here.
Keep in mind, it needs some work- we are going to be ripping up the kitchen, tearing out carpet and painting pretty much every surface in the place. Pea green? Who chooses pea green? Seriously! ugh.
Casey’s mom’s business partner came up with her today for the inspection. He has lots of experience building houses and gave us more ideas about what renovations/ alterations are feasible. We are going to try to get permission to remove an old (unused) chimney in the kitchen to make the layout in the kitchen better. Also looking into putting up a wall to make the bedroom closed off from the entryway.
Weee! My head is spinning!
In other news- Maya, Casey and I are off to Maryland tomorrow for the Sheep & Wool Festival. Casey is going to be spending the weekend with his best friend but we are all flying together. Should be a great time!
If you are going to Sheep and Wool- say hi! It looks like the rain forecast has cleared, thank goodness. I was not looking forward to running around in the mud.
Oh yay! Sheeps!

I totally know what you are talking about – our contract was just signed for our new place in Cambridge! Nothing like moving cross country and trying to buy real estate from 2,000 miles away!
Enjoy the process – it is always wonderful to see potential in a new place.

Yay! You have gorgeous wood floors, a tin ceiling, a room for yarn, huge windows, and wainscoting in the bathroom — so fabulous! And isn’t so satisfying to hate everything in your new kitchen, and know you can change it to whatever you want? Yippee!

Congrats!! That is great news [of course, Cambridge will be less one fabulous freckle]. You new home looks like a great pallet to work with. I have to admit… I don’t think the pea green looks too bad with all that white trim. Have to agree with you about the kitchen, though.
Have fun at MS&W!!

Congrats on the great news! You’re making this apartment dweller jealous with all the talk of painting and such. I know it can be a big pain, but color is so nice. Yaay

Congrats! Homeowner! WHEEEEEEE!!!! It was so nice of them to leave the paint. It’ll help when you need to know which colours you DON’T want!
Hey! We have the same tile in our bathroom! I spent 6 hours on my hands and knees putting that stuff down. The next day I wondered why I couldn’t walk.

Yay! Félicitations! Having a whole HOUSE after years of tiny-apartment dwelling is going to be heaven for you.
Also? I like your bathtub!

Yay Lady. Congrads. The place looks great. We didn’t get any pics of the master bedroom though. And the bathroom dosen’t look creepy at all.

Congrats! I will be so curious to see how cute you can make it. I assume you get to keep the appliances. What can be done with the kitchen? Was there a diningroom? Are you allowed to say how much this cost you and how much money you will have to put into it to get it looking nice?
