Cursed Yarn

October 4th, 2005

Once upon a time, I knit this cool strappy tank:

I loved the yarn and the design independently but the tank was just too bulky and warm for a summer tank.

So I frogged it to make a mini-sweater/ boob-holder with sleeves instead.

I quickly realized that I was insane when I originally knit the tank because I ended up with about 20 itsy bitsy balls of yarn.

So I did what any sane person would do. Put it on my head and pouted for a while.

After I recovered, I happily began to knit my mini-sweater until I got halfway through the top part. Then I realized that I had forgot to knit the darn garter stitch border around the top. How could I have missed that? I have no idea.

Frogged it, yet again.

Then I started it up again from scratch and was happy for a little while.

Until I burned four fingers on my left hand on a pan handle. Why do they make metal pan handles?!

I cannot knit with my hand in cold water. No, I cannot.

I will have a mini-sweater. I will not give up! gah!

Ya know, my tank came out kinda bulky too! What gives?

I’m sorry you had a bad night. But I know that you and the mini-sweater will prevail! GO TEAM!

Man – I am the most unhelpful pattern-reader-helper ever! But I’m sure that darn mini-sweater will come together eventually.

I hope your hand burn isn’t serious – ouch!

I’ve had a few run-ins with the ol’ metal pan handle. I think “Oh cool! I can put it in the oven!” Then once it gets NICE and hot in the oven I bring it out (WITH oven mitts because at that point I’m thinking clearly) and then within minutes forget that it WAS in the oven and try to pick it up and move it. OUCH! Hope your fingers are feeling better!

Ow ow ow! That just sucks. I hope your fingers recover soon!

(I’m also really glad I’m not the only one who puts knitted items on her head.)

Sorry for your troubles. But it is nice to know I am not the only stressed knitter. I have not tried a sweater, but I have frogged ALOT!!!
