I would suggest a visit to a hydroponics store and ask them for some advice either that or visit a nursery that specialises in indoor plants and ask them what you can do.

There is, but it's kinda ugly -- here's the link though:
http://www.comforthouse.com/plantlight.html

I'm sure with your crafty skills you could camouflage it somehow.
HEY WAIT! it says discontinued! What the heck?

Hmm, I have a brown thumb or 2, so I obviously have no helpful advice to offer. Just a word of encouragement (maybe, with you being happier not slugging away at a miserable job, your happy vibes will help your plants. try talking to them every morning about how happy you are to not be at the evil office). =}

There are many sites (and some local stores) that deal with the grow lights, but they can be expensive ($250+) and not so lovely. However, they work great and can be a nice way to maintain house plants in less than ideal conditions. This site has some good info... http://www.elights.com/plantgrow.html
Good luck!

I have a palm tree in my one-window apartment. And that window gets light in from 6 am - 9 am (not to mention I live in oh-so-sunny Portland, where it's cloudy and rainy for practically 3/4 of the year). I went out and bought a cheapie clip-lamp from Target, and I put GE brand plant lights (size of a regular bulb, but blue) in it for my palm... The palm sits at the window so it can get whatever natural light there is, and for after 9 am, the light (which is clipped to the window sill) does it's job. Not only has the palm been surviving for the duration of our lease in this cave of an apartment, but it's been growing like nuts.

There's an inexpensive solution for ya.
