Well, it's actually been quite hot out here and according to www.noaa.gov, it should be okay next week too (it says partly cloudy and 65 right now).
I don't live in Seattle, but LOVE this restaurant called the Icon Grill (1933 5th) (it's downtown -- great decor, mouth watering food and you can go relaxed Pacific NW or fancy). You should check it out. Also, not sure how much time you'll have, but the company I work for opened a retail store in Seattle called Rejuve Seattle (house stuff). Too bad you won't be in Portland because then I could show you around! :) This Seattle blogger recommended a good restaurant called Crave (1621 12th Ave, www.cravefood.com) which I will totally check out next time I'm up there.
Have a great trip!

It's been HOT and sunny out here; even hotter (I'm told) in Seattle than it's been up here in Vancouver. Seattle's not a huge city, so bring comfy walking shoes and you can take in much of the downtown area in an afternoon (or over a couple of evenings after your conference stuff). Pike Place Market is a big draw, although I've never found it all that thrilling. Definitely check out the new library downtown; IMHO it's the most interesting thing to do in Seattle. It's brand-spanking new, and it's stunning. http://www.spl.org... I know there are several yarn shops in the area, but I've never explored them...

If you have a whole day, come up to Vancouver!

I used to live in Seattle and LOVE IT WITH ALL MY HEART! Icon is definitely a must-do - I had part of my bachelorette party there. Ask them for "a pretty" and definitely take the brownie dessert when they leave your check. My recomendations are the Mac N Cheese and the meatloaf. If you are looking for a great sandwich and have the time, head to Ballard (anyone can give you directions; it's on the north side of of Seattle and takes about 15 min by car from downtown) and go to "The Other Coast Cafe" off of the main street (Market). The first REI is in downtown Seattle and is the number two visitor attraction, ahead of the Space Needle and behind Pike Place Market. Climb the Pinnacle there! AND, there is a great yarn shop on Queen Anne, but dang, I can't remember the name of it. If you are interested, email me and I can have my friend look it up. EMP is too expensive and you can't see the whole thing in a day, but do take a ride on the Monorail and it goes through there. (Yep, right through the inside of the building.) Do hit Paperzone, right by Safeco Stadium, esp. with that wedding coming up! Great ideas there. The SAM (Seattle Art Museum) has First Thursday on the (what else) first Thursday of the month, where admission is free and there is usually some activity.

Ok, I'll stop with the ideas now. Email me if you want more. Now you've got me realizing how much I need to go back! According to my folks, weather should be fine, but bring a jacket or light sweater. If you need a tour guide, I have a ton of folks that can help!
