Decemberists

We just got back from the Decemberists concert at Avalon. It was so awesome and now I am all keyed up and don’t want to go to bed.

The weather is absolutely RIDICULOUS outside- like Forest Gump, the rain coming sideways and all directions… We immediately stripped out of all our clothes because everything is drenched.

DRENCHED!

Wet

We saw the band in Portand a little while ago and while that show was good, this one blew it away. Petra is an awesome addition to the group and has a great talent both with violin and voice. She is cute too… a little bashful in front of the crowd.

They played a ton of new songs from Picaresque and it was cool to see them perform the songs live that I have been singing to myself back and forth to work for a few months.

I just love it when you see a band who clearly loves what they are doing… These guys have a fun time and it makes you get wrapped up in the music also. They brought down the house with Chimbley Sweep and the The Mariner’s Revenge Song.

In my humble opinion, I think we did a pretty good job screaming our heads off when the whale attacked. ;)

Yay! Not that I thought you were going to say that you had a BAD time, but nonetheless, I am excited for you!

Turns out I might be able to see them in July now too…yay!!!!

What.. you were in Portland back then? Why didn’t I know you then so I could have come down to see you!!

Glad you had a great time! Chimbley Sweep and The Mariner’s Revenge Song brought down the house in Detroit too. Did you sit on the floor? We screamed our hearts out too. We got there a little late though, so I think we missed some of the newer songs at the beginning. :-( Isn’t Petra the cutest? I wish I had been able to catch the tambourine they threw into the audience.

With all this rain I’ve completely given up on all hopes of a social life. I just come home and put on my pajamas. I don’t even bother checking voicemail to see if anyone wants to go out.

I’m glad some people are more perseverant (why does that not seem like a real word - perseverant… perseverant?) than I am. I should really check out the Decemberists, huhn? (eep)
