Half Post
I will have a real post later on, with pictures from our fittings this weekend. I just didn’t have the energy to upload the pictures yesterday. (iPhoto sucks)
I did find this awesome necklace to wear at the wedding- click here. (no, casey!) It is from this place.
Isn’t it gorgeous? It is $500.00 so I will not be getting it.
I am trying to get a friend of a friend to create a similar necklace but I haven’t heard back yet- keep your fingers crossed! Maybe a matching bracelet? I just love the sparkle and the mother of pearl… and the vine-like look of it. Something a little different, I think, than your typical wedding jewelry. I wonder if I could make it myself? (I am insane.)
Later on I have to ask opinions about the most important thing in the world (besides yarn): SHOES.
Kidding, of course.
Happy Monday! Blech!

The necklace is cool, and it would go with the Midsummer Night’s Dream vibe. You can do it! This month’s Martha Stewart Weddings shows how to make Mother-of-Pearl flowers. I forget which page.

My friends cousin makes jewelry just like that!!! Serious - I got some beaded earings from her once for like $10. I wonder if she could replicate it for less than $500 - that really would be perfect.

Jenny Mangun from http://sweetthunder.com makes similar jewelry… it’s still pretty expensive, but she was on Crafters Coast to Coast and they put up her basic instructions here. Maybe that would help you out

That is such a beautiful necklace. It would even go with the theme of your wedding.

oooooooh, that necklace is STUNNING!!!!!! I’m sure though, that you can find something similar or find someone to replicate it for less…

You could make that! Julia of mindofwinter.prettyposies.com made her own wedding jewelry and taught herself using a tutorial online. Check out the links I posted here:

Yay wedding stuff! Shoes are important! So is bridal UNDERWARE! I need to find that crazy corset thing they put you in and a huge slip with all the tulle. Ugh.

Yeah shoes! When I was picking out shoes for my dress I found a pair I just loved…but they weren’t white or cream. I didn’t really want to spend $100+ on shoes I would never wear again, so I got these beautiful, maroon mary janes! They were a hit, comfortable and I wore them again. So just follow your bliss on that one (besides, they won’t be too visible, right?).

Jessica, I *love* that necklace. It is gorgeous! I say, if you have to, you totally could make that necklace. For real.
Also, can’t wait to see the pics from the fitting!!
I like Sara’s maroon mary janes idea. Cute. I wore ivory MJs for the ceremony and later changed into maroon ones for part of the reception. Super comfy and cute, and I used them again when I was a bridesmaid for one of my bridesmaids!

Have to second (or third or fourth??) the notion that you could make that necklace yourself and it would mean so much more to you! Or check out online jewellers online and see if someone can create it cheaper for you.. I can think of two and both can be reached at redhead54@aol.com
