Quick Saturday

April 9th, 2005

I encountered a strange problem today. Woolcott was having its seasonal sale- 35% off everything in the store. (although they move most of the needles and the luxury yarns into the back- wah.)

Casey and I went and I wandered around for about 10 minutes but I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t buy a darn thing. What is wrong with me?! haha

I think I may go back tomorrow because I have a bunch of babies to knit for and I am excited! I just didn’t do the research on what projects to do before I went.

I’ve also been having fun putting together a little birthday package for my best friend, Julie. I have a couple more things to get and then it goes off to Germany. It is her first birthday away from home and I want to make sure that it is a happy one- not that her Adam won’t do a great job with that on his own… :)

Well, I am going to go scope out my books for good baby projects. I know Stephanie made those cute Ugg booties and I am thinking about them… Anybody know of any other cool baby items that are fun to knit?

A lys around here is having a 25% off weekend, but I’m broke. I’m not feeling too bad though, 25% isn’t THAT much. At least that’s how I’m making it through this weekend :)

This is a nice hat pattern.

I haven’t knit it personally but a friend did using Artyarns Supermerino and it turned out great.

The umbilical cord hat from Stitch N Bitch is a cute and quick knit. I also liked some bootees from Zoe Mellor’s 50 Baby Bootees to Knit. Have fun!

I SAW THOSE UGG Boots and they were totally adorable! I’d go for em’….Hmm an unfair 35% off sale…I’d still strike while the irons hot! Enjoy Enjoy!

The baby devil hat! Of course, the parents would have to “get it”, or you could totally end up insulting them, but it was a huge hit when I gave it to my nephew.

Have you seen the new Debbie Bliss Special Knits book? It’s got some adorable little sweaters in it. I may just have to buy it… no babies at our house yet, but plenty to knit for among our friends! (hee hee… I am the Stephanie?)

Did you see the little hat that matches the Ugg booties? I found the pattern here - http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_3148151,00.html. It is a little fiddly, but I think it turned out really cute.

If you don’t buy anything after the your second trip to the yarn store, you better stop at the looney bin on your way home!

I like making topdown raglan baby cardigans…you can do them on straight needles (except for the sleeves). There’s a pattern on knittingabout.com

I get the same way at the LYS sometimes. I’ll call it Overwhelmednessatosis.

I like making blankets for babies - I have one of those mini vogue knitting books full of baby blankets. Even though I like knitting baby sweaters (so cute in their tiny glory) everytime I’ve made one it did not fit said baby. :-( But that’s an easy mistake to make when a baby predicted to be 8.5 pounds enters the world at over 10!

I’m sure you’ll find something ultra adorable to make…
