Really.
Been working on my Flower Basket Shawl. I finished the 7 repeats of the lower chart and the pattern says to start the border at this point.
She is so tiny though!
Here is a very unimpressive photo. I can’t stretch it all out so just imagine the squished up side looks the same as the pretty side, kay? (click to make bigger, comme d’habitude)
I am going to keep knitting her until I get sick of the pattern. I also have plenty of scrumptious yarn left. wee! I am a flower basket crazy woman!
I am also another kind of crazy woman. I get sorta stressed out and overwhelmed sometimes and get a syndrome that Casey likes to call, “crazy head.” Crazy head does not allow a girl to go to sleep, instead she is stuck in a loop of thoughts about unfinished projects and just-remembered commitments.
(for example: Have I really not written Myra and Lucy’s mommy back yet? After she wrote me such a sweet email?! Bad blogger! What about all those nice new people who commented and you never wrote them back?! zee guilt… help!)
Anyway, the thing that has been making the CRAZY HEAD show its ugly face is the invitations for our wedding. Did you know that they can take over 7 weeks to get printed? Yeah! Me either! Why? Because everything with weddings must (1) require an appointment, (2) cost twice as much, and (3) take five times as long as necessary.
But today I talked to the lovely Cassandra at the Rugg Road Paper Company in Boston (no website?) and she said that we are just fine to get the invites out by then end of April. Whew! Why am I stressing about that so much? Well, if you don’t get your invitations out at least 8 weeks ahead the wedding gods will poop on your head. Really.

Yes, I think I sometimes get ‘crazy head’ - actually I had it two nights ago. Couldn’t sleep, so I shopped on the internet in bed and bought a sports bra! The flower basket is looking fabulous - it’s such a great pattern - can’t wait to see yours finished!!

ah but wedding god poop brings good luck!

Did you know they have medicine for “crazy head”?
Oh, and Ms. Anne “Manners” Marie says if you send out save-the-date cards, you don’t have to give your wedding guests their official invitations until 4 or 5 weeks ahead of the wedding. And unless you’ve registered for Waterford Crystal and a VanGogh…it’s perfectly decent to print your invitations yourself, on construction paper.

Crazy Head . . . thank you for finally giving a name to what I experience on an increasingly frequent basis! I’ve had it on and off since I was a mere tiny girl.
The shawl is gorgeous, too! Almost enough to entice me to knit lace . . .

Oh gosh - throw that poop back at the wedding gods and tell them to relax!!
Life can be so chaotic while planning a wedding (as I’m sure you know). It took me, not kidding, three months AFTER the wedding to feel like I had caught my breath and I could relax. Then again, it didn’t help that we moved a couple months before the wedding, too

But I’m sure your invitations will be gorgeous and they’ll get out JUST in time
Have a great day!

Oh Frecklegirl. Crazy head is an official symptom of the wedding planning woman. No matter how sane and laid back you seem (my reception hall coordinator had the craziness to tell me I was the calmest, most laid-back bride she’d ever met, while at night I awoke at 4 am daily, jaw aching from teeth-grinding and endless loops of ‘oh, I need to do this’), the Crazy Head does happen. It’ll be a blissful day once it arrives, and then you’ll wonder, why did I worry so much (and people will confirm why by telling you what a marvelous affair you’ve thrown together). So. You are totally entitled to Crazy Head and I just hope it all simmers down soon (I found yoga to be my saving grace…I did yoga breathing as I was walking down the aisle with my dad).
The Flower Basket shawl is LOVELY. Go you. I hope that soothes the nerves some. =)
And speaking of bad emailers, I owe you one. Doing that now…

Found your blog through New England Knits… I am a former Bostonian. Well, Quincy-ian.
Anyway, I’m getting married on Saturday. Really. We got our invites from InvitationOutlet.com. They aren’t as nice as engraved but certainly nice enough for the price. Just a thought.
Also, you might not know that the Postal Service has a website thing that makes save-the-date cards *so* easy. You can upload any image onto a postcard, add text, and send all from their website: http://www.usps.com/netpost/premiumpostcard.htm We used a picture of Rodin’s sculpture _The Kiss_ from a trip to Paris.

Your shawl is lovely!

Crazy head is my life! Glad you found someone who can do it in time. Poop on your head doesn’t sound fun.

Crazy Head. I love it. I live it all the time. Not Wedding Crazy Head, which may actually be it’s very own state of mind, but Living With My Boyfriend Crazy Head. *giggle* I’m sure the invites will be out in time. and the shawl looks AMAZING, seriously. I am so impressed. That pattern made me want to cry.

I think I have chronic general life crazy head. But it sounds like I’m not alone.
Your shawl is looking fabulous. I can’t see the pattern definition as well in mine yet because of the colors, but I hope it’s turning out like yours. Mine is really small too - and now I have so many stitches, finishing one row takes like half an hour!
I bet Wedding God poo is gross and pretty at the same time. Does that sound weird?

Jess,
Thanks for the mention — it made me post straight-away!
No need to stress about the lack of e-mail!
When we were preparing for our wedding my husband said that I had been “taken away by the wedding aliens” and it was true, for a time. When we got our first round of invitations back, they said “Four o’kclock” and we had to start all over! But it all worked out and the day was perfect.
I hope you can relax soon — that shawl is looking so pretty and I know everything will come together!
Take care, Sara

Crazy Head indeed! Chris is designing our invitations and I’m trying no to subject him to my own version of crazy head. AHHHH! Wedding anxiety! I have to put my head between my knees.

8 WEEKS?!? Holy cow, we didn’t even have 8 weeks between “will you?” and “i do”. No, I was not pregnant, but know that you are not the first person who thought that.
Luckily, no poop. But you should totally register for some Waterford AND a VanGogh, especially if you get your invitations out 8 weeks before the big day.

All 8 women in my knitting group have crazy head. Every single one. Including AM and Carrieoke. And me, you can tell I’m nuts from my blog. Worry not.
The important thing is, DAMN girl that shawl looks good!!!!
