Favorites Films?
February 2nd, 2005
Along the lines of my post yesterday, I have been trying to think of movies to add to my queue…
What are your favorite movies? Or movies you haven’t seen in a while and are on your list to re-watch?
To get it started, here are mine:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Elizabeth
Secretary
Princess Bride
Labyrinth
Finding Neverland
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Pirates of the Caribbean
That is all I can think of for now. I will update this post if I think of any others!
*updated*
The Fifth Element
The Matrix (3rd sucked!!!)
Neverending Story
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
(How could I have forgotten those?!)

I have never met another living person who has ever liked this movie, in fact I had to go see it by myself, and the other people in the theater left during the movie but – I LOVE the Rules of Attraction. It is a wickedly dark comedy starring James Vaan Der Beek. Yup, Dawson himself. Willow is a pretty good one too. One of the all time best movies ever is Girls Just Want to Have Fun, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt before they were famous. It even has a dance contest. Put it on your list immediately.

Uhm… Okay.
Empire Records
Circle of Friends
White Christmas (yeah I know)
Princess Bride
I can’t keep writing about movies! Because now I have to go watch a movie!

Amelie! Woohoo!
Life is Beautiful
Shakespeare in Love
The Village
Groundhog Day (it is February!)
Garden State
This is hard for me. I’m trying to think of old classics that I love…and new ones that I just saw and loved!

Couldn’t resist adding to the movie list:
High Fidelity: the best of both worlds – it’s a FILM about MUSIC. They even mention Belle and Sebastian in it!
Mary Poppins: Music, dancing penguins, a bottomless carpet bag, toys that put themselves away, what more could a kid want?
A Fairy Tale: Do you believe in fairies? I do, I do!
Johnny English: Atkinson wonders aloud about plastic toys and soft cheese.
Xmen: My dearest friend is a costume designer and works making costumes for film. Her friends worked on X1 and X2. My message to them: Thank you for Hugh Jackman’s jeans. My latest message to the friend? When X3 goes into production expect a houseguest.
IRobot: Same friend worked on film. Doesn’t Will’s jacket look nice?

Dancer in the Dark – Its Bjork! but its sad…
Ocean’s 11 – The original one… not the remake… the OG, with the Rat Pack. You cant be more swank than this movie!
My Neighbor Totoro – its anime and its cute.
High Fidelity – not only is it about music, its set in Chicago and was filmed at Reckless Records. YAY!
Friday Night Lights – TEXAS HIGHSCHOOL FOOTBALL! (you have to yell it)
Whats Eating Gilbert Grape – Leonardo is excellent when playing a retard or an obsessive/compulsive (howard hughes).
there’s more. there’s always more. and those are by no means in any particular order and are subject to change at my whim.

I love watching movies over and over again. And since the only movies I own are favorites, I have watched them to death. But these are ones I do not own (yet) and would like to watch over and over.
I would go the Musical route:
My Fair Lady
Meet me in Saint Louis
Oliver!
Then I would go the nostalgia route:
Muppets take manhattan (though I guess this is a musical as well)
The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe (cartoon version and/or live action PBS version, if I could find it)
Karate Kid
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Hmmm…that’s a lot, and I continue to think of more. I need to get me one of those DVD mail away services soon…
