I believe I can fly
Whew! Saturday night already… only one more day left to the weekend. wah.
I have been having a good weekend at least.
Yesterday, Casey and I went to see Sideways in Kendall Square theater. We just sort of left the house and didn’t think to check what time it was or what time the movie was playing. When we got to the theater at 6:30 and there was a show playing at 7, we decided to have popcorn and a giant (medium size) cherry coke for dinner. Yummy going down.. but sitting in your otherwise empty stomach for two hours? Not so fun.
We both really liked the movie and as poor Waiter said very well, it does make you want to have a good glass of wine. I thought it was a really good story and the characters were very human and real. There is a good balance of sadness and humor in it too… I was not in the mood for a depressing movie and, although there were certainly sad parts of the movie, it ended on a hopeful note. I would recommend it.
Today we had a good day too. Went for Indian Buffet (why capitalized? you haven’t had a good Indian Buffet then! haha) for lunch in Harvard Square. mmm… Then we slushed around, still exchanging/ returning a few things from Christmas.
By slushed, I mean trying not to get completely soaked in the mess of rain, sleet, and snow that fell on New England today. It is not too bad if you get bundled up and keep your head covered but there is not much you can do about the gigantic puddles that form because there is not proper drainage anywhere! gah!
Anyway, moving on.
Tonight we went to see an awesome band, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, at Axis in Boston. (Their site is apparently down at the moment or I would link to it. Oh! Here is a site with information about them.) They are a funny bunch of guys who play punk versions of cover songs… and do it well! I never thought I would see the day where a circle pit would form to ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ but that is exactly what happened. They were awesome! (The two bands who opened for them…. Well, I’ll just say that could have done without that experience.)
I have had every ridiculous song that they played running around my head since we left the concert. The one that won’t leave me at the moment is ‘I believe I can Fly.’ Fabulous!
This photo cracks me up.
Yes, they really play those guitars.
(Casey’s concert page has mp3s on it, if you want to hear them!)
We finished up our evening with some crappy food from Boston Beer Works. It is our tradition, Casey and I, to go there after we go to a show on Landsdowne Street. We got cheesy fries, some beer, a hummus plate (that was the “healthy part” because there were a few vegetables on there), and some buffalo chicken fingers. Yum!
Then Casey dragged our corpse of a Christmas tree outside. Yes, we still had it up until today. oops. Casey refused to bring it outside during the light of day- silly boy.
Well, I am going to get to bed now. mwah!

okay… I thought Sideways was good too… but my date did not like it so much.
I love Paul Giamatti (sp?) in anything though. I think he’s fab.
