Technical Difficulties

May 9th, 2004

My goodness. I don’t think that I could ever be a web designer!! Casey and I have been working on the layout for my page and the colors and layout look different in every browser- what a pain in the ass. I would like it to be the same on Macs and PCs (because some poor people have to still work on PCs- hehe). I am sure he has it all under control- hopefully we will have the layout all set soon.

We had a fun time on Saturday night- we went to see Super Size Me. It tells you some interesting things about what happens if you eat McDonald’s for every meal for a month. Just a hint- it is not good. The movie, however, was eye-opening. I mean, you know that fast-food is not good for you but you may not know exactly what it does to you or what is in it. Even more disturbing are the ways that the food industry markets to children… both through advertisements and even through school lunch programs. Anyway, you can read more about it on imdb. Go check it out if it is playing in your area!

One more note about Super Size Me- We were sitting next to these frat boys who spent the whole movie snickering every time an overweight person came on the screen. There was one scene where a girl was talking about how bad she feels about herself when she is looking at magazines or watching t.v. because all of the women are “thin and beautiful”. The idiot next to me says, “Well, just stop eating!” I wanted to punch him. He completely missed the point of that scene entirely- way to use your brain, fucko.

Oh- and I got some good knitting in on my French Market Bag- getting there! :) I can’t wait to see how the felting turns out. I used a variegated Manos yarn for the body of the bag and it is supposed to felt nicely. Impatient-pants!

Casey’s oldest younger sister, Carrie, also asked me if I could knit her one of those cool poncho-like wraps that I keep seeing everywhere. That could be cool- I want to make one for myself also- need to look into some patterns! I would ask for advice on where people have found them but no one is reading this yet… :) Someday…
